Stories of Inspirational Mamas

Now that you found the perfect Mother’s Day gifts, read on and be inspired by our Top 3 stories of inspirational mamas.

Stephanie Decker: Sacrificing for Her Children's Safety

Stephanie Decker was a stay-at-home mother of two in Indiana when a tornado struck her home, trapping her and her children under debris. Despite suffering serious injuries, including the loss of both her legs, Decker was able to shield her children from harm. She later said, "I just had to make sure my babies were safe." Decker's story of sacrifice and bravery inspired people around the world and earned her numerous awards for her heroism.

Crystal Allen: Advocating for Her Son's Health

Crystal Allen's son, Austin, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at a young age, and she struggled to find the resources he needed to thrive. When she discovered that there were few options for children with special needs in her area, she took matters into her own hands. Allen founded a nonprofit organization called Brighter Tomorrows, which provides support and services for families of children with special needs. Her organization has grown and expanded, helping countless families like her own access the resources they need to succeed.

Katie Stagliano: Growing Food for Those in Need

Katie Stagliano was just nine years old when she planted a cabbage seed in her backyard garden. The cabbage grew to an enormous size, and Stagliano decided to donate it to a local soup kitchen. Inspired by the impact of her donation, Stagliano founded a nonprofit organization called Katie's Krops, which helps children grow and donate fresh produce to people in need. Her organization has since grown to include hundreds of young volunteers across the country, and Stagliano's story is a testament to the power of small acts of kindness and generosity.

Our Hope For You This Mother’s Day

These mamas may have had some very challenging circumstances, but we know that being a mama is quite the undertaking for all of us. The love, joy, pain, fear, worry, excitement, and pride we feel – sometimes all in one day – is the most enormous experience we think a human being can have. We hope you have a chance this Mother’s Day to really take it all in.

Whether you have one kiddo or five. If you are married or single. If you’re older or younger than most mamas with kids your age. If you’re a working mom or a stay-at-home mom, we all share one thing in common. We have these little humans in our care for only a blink of time in our lives. What an honor it truly is to be their everything, if only for a little while.

There is a season of motherhood. Yes, we will always love our babies, but we only have them in our care for a season. A season that will pass as quickly as the leaves will change in the fall and turn back to green in spring again. It happens so fast. One day it will take us by surprise when suddenly, the little feet that always ran down the hallway to wake us up, have turned into deep voices asking for the car keys.

We encourage you to pause this Mother’s Day and really take it all in. Smell the sweetness of your little’s sunkissed skin, hold them a little longer, hug them a little tighter, and play an extra 5 minutes with them before bath time. Then - take a deep breath and allow yourself to feel the full weight of the honor you have been given. Motherhood.

Happy Mother’s Day, Mama!
